The importance of staying in touch

If there is one thing we have all learned in these uncertain times, it’s how important our loved ones are to us. As the restrictions become tighter and tighter, we are having to keep our distance and find new ways to reach out to one another across the miles. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology we have video calls, Whatsapp groups and social media, but we think there is still room for something a little more traditional.

It will come as no surprise that we think it’s always important to send cards. Whether you are wishing someone a happy birthday or congratulating them on that promotion they’ve been wanting, a carefully chosen card gives a personal touch.

In these weeks of isolation and social distancing, we need that more than ever before. We are all having to adjust to a strange new normality and that process is bound to take its toll on our mental health. It is easy to send an email or a text but a handwritten card is so much more than that. It is something tangible - something that you can hold in your hand and put on your mantelpiece. Something that creates a connection between friends and loved ones in a way that instant messages and video calls don’t.

Sending a card is a way to show someone that you love them, that they are in your thoughts and that you care. As you write it you are thinking of them and as they read it they are thinking of you. We think that’s pretty powerful and we want to help create these wonderful moments throughout this difficult time.

We urge you to keep in touch with those you love. Keep video calling, keep messaging and, of course, keep sending cards. We will get through these extraordinary times by pulling together and by showing compassion to our loved ones, our neighbours and ourselves.

We will continue to play our part in keeping the country positive for as long as we possibly can. If you are interested in stocking our cards and hearing more about our ranges, you can contact our Customer Service team on enquiries@lingdesign.co.uk.
