A Visit to the Isle of Man

To mark the 100 year anniversary of the GCA (Greetings Card Association), the Isle of Man post office has created a special collection of stamps for Christmas, celebrating the diversity of the greetings card industry and the spirit of the festive season. We are hugely honoured to be included in the collection, with four of our designs selected to feature on the stamps.

In celebration of this special project, we had the pleasure of spending a day hosted on the Isle of Man by the post office team, along with a lovely group of fellow publishers and industry leaders.

It was an action-packed day, beginning with a visit to an unmissable independent card shop – Mantons, in Port Erin. It is thanks to owner Chris and his dedication to the industry that the idea for the collection came about.

A special highlight of the day was a behind the scenes tour of the post office, where we were even let loose with our own personalised Ling Design stamp, to mark and send some of our Christmas cards.

We also met with local council member Kerry Sharpe, who shared some wonderful letters and cards from a family archive, including her Great-Grandfather’s personal letters from the trenches of WW1.

In between, there was plenty of site-seeing all across the beautiful Isle of Man and we can’t thank the post office team enough for looking after us all so well. It’s definitely worth a visit for anyone that hasn’t been.
